Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

Duty Station

Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) is located in Southeast Washington, D.C. It was established in 2010 as the consolidated site of the Naval Support Facility Anacostia and Bolling Air Force Base, which were previously separate but adjacent to each other in the District of Columbia.

The property has been owned by the Department of Defense since 1917 and today it hosts the Military Airlift Command, headquarters for the Air Force District of Washington, the Air Force 11th Wing, the Defense Intelligence Agency among others.

Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is located along the Potomac River and I-295. Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia sit across the Potomac River. Many people stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling live in the District of Columbia or in the nearby Maryland communities of Oxon Hill or Camp Springs (near Andrews Air Force Base). Just south of the base is National Harbor, a tourist destination with shopping, hotels, a casino, condos and apartments.
